8th – 12th February
2000
At the time of the visit we were using the following books:
“A Photographic Guide to the Birds of Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore”
by Morten Strange &
Allen Jeyarajasingam.
“A Photographic Guide to Birds of Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore”
by G.W.H. Davison & Chew
Yen Fook.
I have since purchased a copy of
“A Field Guide to the Birds
of South-east Asia”, 2002 edition,
by
Craig Robson.
The numbers in the first column below refer to this
book.
The highest concentrations of birds were on the road between Ye Olde Smokehouse and the rubbish tip, about halfway to Jeriau. It was in this area that we saw all the bird waves. A walk all around the Buona Vista loop only produced a handful of birds, but did include the only Black-browed Barbet we saw. When just the two of us came across a bird wave it was only possible to identify a handful of birds but when we were in a large group far more were identified, although not everyone saw all the birds.
