Birds of Sri Lanka

A selection of pictures taken in January and February 2004

Blue Magpie & Frogmouth

The Sri Lanka Blue Magpie was seen on 3 occasions at Sinharaja but the only time we got close was in dense forest with poor light and with the sun directly overhead. The exposure used on these pictures was between 1/3 and 1/10 second.

Only one Sri Lanka Frogmouth was seen, sitting on a nest, but occasionally there was just a glimpse of a baby's head near the bottom, seen clearly through binoculars but not very clear in the picture.
